What will you study

Students studying Product Design at Asia University know not only creativity, but also craftsmanship abilities, respect to professionalism, and upholding discipline are components that contribute to good design.

Corporations and organizations alike are increasingly recognizing the importance of comprehensive design in order to achieve success, while society as a whole is gradually grasping the concept of how design plays a vital role in lifestyle improvement. As consumer culture continues to shift, the market demands products which minimize environmental impact, starting from the production stages to disposal at the end of its journey, while at the same time seeking an emotional connection within the objects that surround them.

We prepare students to meet these needs on both local and global scales, giving them tools to visualize the future.  Our curriculum provides a foundation the design sciences, covering fields such as human factors, manufacturing processes, human-centered research methodologies, and design management.

Students can simultaneously gain a comprehensive understanding of materials technologies, global trends and sustainability through access to a series of additional programs and transdisciplinary courses.

Our course equips students with industry level skills, enabling them to become pioneers in product design and related fields of expertise. Categorized into two main programs, the "Creative Design program" leads students to explore and develop cultural possibilities by utilizing design research methods; whereas the "Brand and Trend Design program" focuses on humanistic concern, brand strategy, and popular product design.

These programs adhere to the following themes:

  • sustainable design skill and understanding of principles, techniques and examples
  • innovation, hi-tech, humanity and aesthetics of product design
  • humanistic and ethical responsibilities of the designers’ approach in society
  • product development in hi-tech goods, green products, objects & activity space for the elderly (EOSA), and package design; alongside the integration of design philosophy, design management, plus creative strategic planning and services

*128 credits are required for graduation.

The department of Creative Product Design pays attention to the student’s individual needs; with innovative curriculums and abundant teaching resources, we cultivate encouragement in our students to stay aware of design industry and market trends. Students can fully experience the process of product design through a series of increasingly demanding projects, seminars, lectures, and workshops.
